The show supported family values decency togetherness love friendship clean living laughter and it was environmentally aware socially responsible and able STILL to reach children.

As the series evolved so did the characters so Fred Wilma Betty and Barney all became parents.
But as we all know smoking kills it's consumers so they HAD to lure in fresh young NEW customers and using a cartoon character was a great way to do so.

"Bedrock Cops" had Fred and Barney working inexplicably as the Stone Age's finest and finally meeting the Shmoo.
Of course it ends happily but it shows the characters in an adult manner that recalls the original show.

In the late 1980s Blackthorne produced several 3-D comics featuring the characters.
Still no one seemed to mind this evolutionary throwback interacting with the more sophisticated "modern stone age family " nor did they connect him to his shaggy copy-boy alter-ego.

The characters moved immediately to the big screen with 1966's animated spy-spoof A Man Called Flintstone while rerun s kept the original show alive especially with the younger set.
Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are also the two you will enjoy as well as Dino and Hoppy.

I will appreciate the Flinstones and Jetsons cartoons more.
The Flintstones/Jetsons had a small voice cast so they usually provided the extra voices themselves.

In early 1990s Harvey Comics picked up the rights and featured both the original comic books and an adaptation of the big-budget movie.
And even though I feel that in most cases the introduction of cute kids ruins a show the introduction of Pebbles and Bamm Bamm helped to show that beneath his gruff exterior Fred was a big teddy bear.

The 1964 episode "Bachelor Daze" had flashed back to Fred and Barney's first meeting with Wilma and Betty shortly after they graduated from high school.
The show was losing ground then but that moment can't top the moment when the Great Gazoo came in.
